History Making : Wing Commander Deepika Mishra is the first female Air Force officer to earn the gallantry award

MP : The Yudh Seva Medal was given to two Air Force officers, the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) to 13 officers and airmen, the Vayu Sena Medal to 13 officers, and the Vishisht Seva Medal to 30 airmen. A spokesperson for the Air Force reported that 58 people in total received awards, 57 of whom are from the Air Force and one from the Army.

Wing Commander Deepika Mishra received a gallantry award on Thursday, making her the first female officer in the Indian Air Force. Deepika Mishra, a resident of Rajasthan, is a helicopter pilot, according to an Air Force spokesman. He received the “Vayu Sena Medal” (gallantry) for displaying “indomitable courage” during Madhya Pradesh flood relief efforts.

Several officers and airmen received Yudh Seva Medals and other awards during a ceremony held at the Air Force Auditorium in Subroto Park here, which was attended by Air Chief Marshal V.R. Choudhary.
Although women have previously been recognised by the Air Force for their commitment to service, this is the first time a female Air Force officer has received a gallantry award.
