In a landmark development, Uttarakhand is set to witness the inauguration of its first Vande Bharat train, connecting the capital city Delhi to Dehradun. The much-anticipated train will cover the distance between the two cities in a record-breaking time of just four hours and forty-five minutes.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off the train, marking a significant milestone in Uttarakhand’s transportation infrastructure. The commercial operation of the train will commence on May 29, offering a swift and efficient mode of travel for commuters.

The inaugural run will depart from Dehradun at 11 am, with the 20458/20457 Dehradun-Anand Vihar Terminal-Dehradun Vande Bharat express soon becoming a regular service, running six days a week, except Wednesdays.

The eight-coach express will traverse through Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee, and Haridwar, catering to the transportation needs of various towns and cities en route.

Once regular services are underway, the train will depart from Dehradun at 7 am and reach Anand Vihar Terminal at 11.45 am. The return journey will commence from Anand Vihar at 5.50 pm, arriving in Dehradun at 10.35 pm.

During its journey, the 22457/22458 Vande Bharat train will make stops at Haridwar, Roorkee, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Meerut City stations in both directions, ensuring convenient access for passengers.

This high-speed train marks a significant improvement in travel time, outpacing the Dehradun Jan Shatabdi Express, which previously held the fastest train record on this route, taking five hours and fifty minutes. The Vande Bharat train is set to revolutionize travel, offering a faster, more comfortable, and efficient option for commuters.

With the introduction of this Vande Bharat train, the total count of these semi-high-speed trains in India will reach 17. While this is Uttarakhand’s first Vande Bharat train, it is the sixth such train for Delhi. The capital city is already connected with Vande Bharat trains to Ajmer, Varanasi, Katra, Bhopal, and Amb Andaura. Last week, Odisha also welcomed its first Vande Bharat train, running between Puri and Howrah.

As the Railway Ministry aims to enhance connectivity across the nation, 16 pairs of Vande Bharat trains are currently operational throughout India. These trains facilitate travel between major cities like Chennai, Mysuru, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Shirdi, Solapur, Bilaspur, Nagpur, Howrah, New Jalpaiguri, Secunderabad, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kasaragod.

This year, the Railway Ministry has focused on increasing the production and delivery of Vande Bharat trains to expedite connectivity and ensure efficient travel experiences for passengers. Since April 1, six pairs of Vande Bharat trains have been inaugurated, further boosting India’s rail network.

With Uttarakhand’s first Vande Bharat train reducing travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to just 4.45 hours, it is poised to provide a transformative transportation solution, bringing convenience, speed, and connectivity to the region.
