Shabana Azmi Reveals Candid Details About Her Relationship with Javed Akhtar: ‘We Have Intense Arguments and Deep Friendship’

Shabana Azmi, a renowned actress, recently discussed her relationship with Javed Akhtar, her husband of many years. Despite having “big fights” and moments where they feel like “killing each other,” Azmi revealed that they also share a strong friendship. They have been married since 1984.

During an interview with Filmfare, Azmi shared her perspective on love. She mentioned that she was never a romantic person and that her definition of love has been influenced by her parents’ marriage. They began with romance but evolved into a deep friendship. Azmi values friendship greatly because of this.

Azmi emphasized that despite their arguments, she and Javed Akhtar always end up respecting each other. They share a similar worldview and have a lot in common. Javed Akhtar was previously married to screenwriter Honey Irani and has two children with her – actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar.

Azmi was last seen in the movie “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” in 2022 and is set to appear in Karan Johar’s upcoming film “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,” scheduled for release in July.
