In a shocking incident captured on camera, an under-construction four-lane bridge over the Ganga in Bihar’s Bhagalpur collapsed, resembling a house of cards. This unfortunate event marks the second collapse of the bridge within a year.

Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported thus far. The bridge, which was inaugurated in 2014 by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, serves as a crucial link between Sultanganj and Khagaria districts.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has responded swiftly by ordering a thorough inquiry into the incident, emphasizing the need for strict action against the responsible officials.

Bhagalpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen stated that several pillars of the Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge had collapsed, and the administration is in contact with the relevant department officials.

The incident has drawn attention to allegations of rampant corruption within the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, as highlighted by state BJP president Samrat Choudhary. This bridge collapse adds to a series of infrastructure mishaps in the region.

Last December, a bridge in Begusarai district snapped and plunged into the Burhi Gandak river, though no casualties were reported as the bridge had not been officially opened to the public due to the absence of an access road.
