Monsoon Alert: IMD Issues Warning for Monsoon Activity in the Next 48 Hours

0

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding the monsoon situation. Due to a cyclonic disturbance in the Arabian Sea, the southwestern monsoon is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rainfall to the coastal areas of Kerala in the next 48 hours.

The IMD has observed a low-pressure area forming in the Arabian Sea, indicating a possible increase in atmospheric pressure. This region is likely to experience a significant decrease in pressure, leading to gusty winds and intense rainfall.

Currently, the Arabian Sea is experiencing low pressure, with the weather patterns favoring the Bay of Bengal over the Arabian Sea.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon usually arrives around June 1st, but it has not yet reached the coastal areas of Kerala in southwestern India.

If this pattern continues, Rajasthan can expect the monsoon to make its presence felt in July. Typically, monsoon arrives in Rajasthan after June 25th, and adding a week to that estimate brings us to July 1st.

Additionally, over the next four days, Rajasthan’s western regions, bordering Pakistan, are likely to experience strong winds and heavy rainfall.

The western disturbance reached the Himalayan region on the night of June 5th, resulting in rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. The possibility of lightning strikes and hailstorms cannot be ruled out in some areas.

May Remains Cool, June Not Too Hot

The weather center in Jaipur has reported that Rajasthan, along with the entire northwest region, is still experiencing cooler temperatures. The average temperature remains below normal. In May, the state broke a 105-year record for rainfall.

As for June, it is not expected to be excessively hot. While there may be a slight increase in temperature due to the delayed monsoon, pre-monsoon showers are likely to bring relief from the heat.
