Bhopal : Lokrang Utsav from today, Governor Mangubhai Patel will inaugurate

Governor Mangubhai Patel will inaugurate the Lokrang ceremony on January 26, 2023 at 7 pm at Ravindra Bhavan. Culture Tourism and Religious Trust and Endowment Minister Sushri Usha Thakur will be present in Lokrang. Principal Secretary Culture and Tourism Shiv Shekhar Shukla informed that the 38th Lokrang Utsav will be celebrated by the Culture Department from January 26 to 30 at Ravindra Bhawan Complex, Bhopal. On the inauguration occasion, along with the National Decoration Award, state-level awards will also be given to the selected participants and tableaux in the Republic Day parade. Along with this, various crafts fair “Hunar”, exhibition of artistic lamps “Abhyarthana”, “Book fair” of books on art and culture, exhibition of indigenous cuisine “Swad”, singing performance “Lokraag” will also be the main attractions in Lokrang Utsav.

Principal Secretary Shukla informed that Lokrang is organized every year on Republic Day. This year the theme of Lokrang has been kept as “Vimukt and Nomad”. A dance-drama with ‘Charaiveti’ will be presented at the inauguration. Lokrang dances with three foreign dances from UK, Ukraine and Egypt are performed by nomadic and folk communities of 12 states of the country namely Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Orissa, Uttarakhand, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat. Artists will give dance performances.

‘Charaiveti’ Ensemble Dance Drama

The life tradition, culture of the Kalbelia community will be shown in the ‘Charaiveti’ ensemble dance drama to be held on the occasion of inauguration. This dance drama will be directed by Ramchandra Singh, a renowned artist and actor of Bhopal. Around 100 artistes will participate in the performance. Renowned actress Himani Shivpuri will act as the narrator of the play. The script of this dance drama has been prepared by Yogesh Tripathi-Rewa and Ms. Aditi Gaur-Bhopal. On January 27, there will be a special recital by renowned Pandwani singer Padmavibhushan Sushri Teejan Bai of Pardhi nomadic community.

“Nispand”, Dera Exhibition, “Samvad” and “Ullas” will be major attractions

“Nispand”, Dera Exhibition, “Samvad” and Ullas will be major attractions in Lokrang with the aim of making the general public aware of the art tradition of the liberated communities. “Nispand”, a camp focused on liberated communities, has been organized in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Artists from the nomadic community of Uttar Pradesh will display their art and sell materials.Dera exhibition is being organized for the first time in the festival. In which the lifestyle of the nomadic community Pardhi, Kalbelia, Bagri, Kuchbandia, Bedia will be shown through their traditional camps. “Dialogues” based on the life traditions of nomadic communities are also being organised. The Ullas series for children will combine the feats of nomadic communities and fun games.

Also, from 27 to 29 January, 2023, every day from 2 pm and 7 pm, Lambadi dance-Karnataka, Dhimsa-Andhra Pradesh, Dhangirigaja-Maharashtra, Dholukunitha-Karnataka, Domkach-Jharkhand, Gudka dance-Orissa, Bhotia dance-Uttarakhand, Rawa dance – Assam, Gaddnati dance – Himachal Pradesh, Asura dance – Jharkhand, Birhor dance -Madhya Pradesh, Bhavai dance-Rajasthan, Dewar Karma dance-Chhattisgarh, Chari-Ghoomar dance-Rajasthan, Wagher Ras-Dwarka, Tipni dance-Gujarat, Gotipua dance and others will be presented.
