The family of a receptionist, who was allegedly murdered last year in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district, has accused the government of apathy in ensuring justice. They have threatened to commit suicide if the prosecution lawyer in the case is not removed.
In a video released by the receptionist’s mother, she expressed their helplessness and frustration, blaming the government for their despair. The family claims to have made numerous efforts to seek justice but feels let down by the system.
The accused in the case are Pulkit Arya, the son of a resort owner and an expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, along with his staff members, Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta.
They were arrested for the alleged murder of the 19-year-old receptionist, whose body was found in a canal six days after the incident. The family believes that the prosecution lawyer, Jitendra Rawat, has weakened the case, and they demand his removal.
Jitendra Rawat denies the allegations against him, stating that it is a conspiracy. He claims that some people are misleading the receptionist’s parents. However, the mother remains firm in her stance, appealing to the district magistrate and the Chief Minister to remove the lawyer.
She questions the government’s commitment to justice and urges other witnesses to boycott the court proceedings until the lawyer is replaced.
The distraught mother emphasizes that failure to deliver justice in her daughter’s case would set a dangerous precedent and allow criminals to act with impunity. She feels that the government is not taking the matter seriously.
The father of the receptionist had previously accused Jitendra Rawat of intentionally protecting the accused by omitting crucial information during court proceedings. He also highlighted Rawat’s alleged dissemination of objectionable videos related to the case on YouTube, further questioning the lawyer’s dedication to justice.
The family’s emotional plea for justice and their ultimatum of suicide reflects their deep frustration with the perceived apathy of the government and their desperate desire to see the culprits brought to justice.
