Badshah, a rapper, is involved in the Dharavi Dream project, which develops emerging talent. He has also referred to the group of young people as the OGs. The rapper’s relationship came about as a result of an NGO that was established to find and support Dharavi talent by composer AR Rahman, director Shekhar Kapur, and late co-founder of a multi-platform media firm, Samir Bangara.
According to Badshah, when he jammed with aspiring musicians who were just looking to learn, it gave him the impression that he was in a studio. The level of talent they have will astound you. Some of them are undiscovered original generation artists. It’s a good thing that today’s artists have access to a variety of platforms and reality TV programmes so they may show the world their skills and not rely on labels and management for their big break. I’m looking forward to educating kids in as many areas as I can, even those that go outside the craft of music production, since in this day and age, you have to hustle in a variety of ways.
The 37-year-old responds when asked how he intends to coach them, “I’ve always felt that promising talent comes from the most unexpected areas. Over the following two years, I will spend time with these under-resourced artists to help them develop their abilities and find the best outlet for producing and disseminating their music. In addition, I’d love to see them work with all the top performers domestically and abroad.
