Kasaragod: In a suspected case of food poisoning, a 20-year-old woman died on Saturday after consuming ‘Kuzhimanthi’, a variety of biryani allegedly ordered from a local hotel. Police said that Anju Sriparvathy, a resident of Perumbala, had consumed Kuzhimanthi which she had ordered online from a restaurant named Romancea in Kasaragod on December 31 and was undergoing treatment thereafter.

Police told PTI-language, “The girl’s parents complained in this regard after which the case was registered.” He said that further action will be taken on the basis of the postmortem report. The woman was undergoing treatment at a private hospital from where she was taken to another hospital in Mangaluru, Karnataka, where she died.
Meanwhile, State Health Minister Veena George has ordered an inquiry into the incident. George told reporters in Pathanamthitta that instructions have been issued to the Commissioner of Food Safety to submit a report regarding the incident. He said that the license of hotels accused of food poisoning would be canceled under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA).
Another same incident; Earlier this week, a nurse at the Kottayam Medical College died allegedly after consuming food from an eatery in Kozhikode.
