Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Sunday 12 feburary. It is a 246 kilometer stretch of the expressway falling in Dausa, Rajasthan. PM Modi pressed the remote button to inaugurate the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of State VK Singh, Union Minister Gajendra Singh and other leaders were present on the dais at the function.
Addressing a public meeting in Dhanawar village of Dausa in eastern Rajasthan, the Prime Minister said, “Studies show that investment in infrastructure leads to more investment.” He pressed the button on the remote to mark the opening. The PM said, “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas is our mantra for the nation, we are making a ‘Samarth Bharat’ by following it.” PM Modi has called the expressway “a shining picture of developing India”.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar addressed the event through video link. While Gehlot attended the program from the Chief Minister’s residence in Jaipur, Khattar addressed the program from a function organized in Nuh district.
This will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Jaipur from five hours to about three hours. The expressway is expected to reduce the travel time from the national capital to its financial hub, Mumbai, by half to just 12 hours.
