Kajol Reflects on 25 Years of “Dushman”: Says One of the Most Scariest Films I’ve Ever Done

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the film “Dushman,” Kajol took to social media to share her thoughts on the psychological thriller.

In her Twitter post, the renowned actress described “Dushman” as one of the scariest films she had ever agreed to be a part of, both as an actor and as a viewer. She expressed gratitude towards Pooja Bhatt and Tanuja Chandra for tackling such an uncomfortable topic and making her feel at ease.

Kajol’s performance as twins Sonia and Naina Sehgal in the movie garnered praise, and she mentioned her co-stars Ashutosh Rana and Sanjay Dutt in her post.

Directed by Tanuja Chandra, the 1998 film “Dushman” left a lasting impact on audiences with its gripping storyline. It revolves around Naina seeking vengeance for her sister Sonia’s murder by a serial offender named Gokul, portrayed by Ashutosh Rana.

Alongside her mission for justice, Naina finds support in a blind military veteran portrayed by Sanjay Dutt. The film, produced by Pooja Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, is a remake of the Hollywood movie “Eye For An Eye.”

As fans flooded the comments section with praises, acknowledging the film as one of their favorites, Kajol’s post garnered appreciation. Many hailed her performance as one of her best throughout her career, emphasizing the powerful combination of acting and music that made the movie memorable.

In terms of accolades, Kajol was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role in “Dushman” at the 44th edition in 1999. However, she ultimately won the award for her performance in Karan Johar’s “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” (1998).

Ashutosh Rana, on the other hand, received the Best Villain award for his portrayal of the antagonist.

Having recently appeared in the film “Salaam Venky,” directed by Revathy, Kajol’s upcoming venture will be her debut in the OTT space with the Disney+ Hotstar series titled “The Good Wife,” scheduled to release later this year.
