In a shocking and horrifying incident, a man in Hyderabad has been arrested for the gruesome murder of his live-in partner. The accused, identified as B. Chandra Mohan, brutally killed the victim and dismembered her body using a stone cutting machine. To conceal the evidence, he stored the victim’s legs and hands in a refrigerator while using disinfectants and perfumes to mask any foul odors.
The ghastly crime came to light after the Hyderabad police solved the mystery surrounding a severed head discovered near the Musi river on May 17. Authorities drew parallels to previous cases involving body parts stored in refrigerators for disposal, such as the infamous Shradda Walker and Nikki Yadav murder cases in Delhi.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rupesh Chennuri, revealed that the breakthrough in the investigation came with the arrest of the 48-year-old accused. B. Chandra Mohan, who was involved in online stock trading, had been engaged in an illicit relationship with Yarram Anuradha Reddy, aged 55, for the past 15 years. Reddy, separated from her husband, resided with Mohan in his residence located in Chaitanyapuri colony, Dilsukhnagar.

The motive for the crime emerged from financial disputes between the two. Mohan had borrowed a substantial amount of money, approximately Rs 7 lakh, from Reddy for his online trading endeavors but failed to repay her despite repeated requests. Growing increasingly frustrated by Reddy’s persistent demands, he plotted to kill her.
On May 12, a heated argument between the accused and the victim escalated, resulting in Mohan viciously attacking Reddy with a knife. The brutal assault inflicted fatal stab wounds to her chest and stomach, leading to her demise.
To dispose of the evidence, the perpetrator purchased two small stone-cutting machines, which he utilized to sever the victim’s head from her trunk. The head was placed in a black polythene cover, while the legs and hands were preserved in the refrigerator. The trunk was packed into a suitcase for later disposal.
On May 15, the accused transported the severed head in an autorickshaw and discarded it near the Musi River. In an attempt to mask the smell, Mohan purchased phenyl, Dettol, perfumed Agarbatti, and camphor, regularly applying them to the body parts. Additionally, he watched instructional videos on social media on how to dispose of human remains.
To mislead acquaintances of the victim, Mohan used her cell phone to send messages, creating the illusion that she was alive and residing elsewhere.
The case took a significant turn when sanitation workers discovered the severed head at a garbage dumping site near the Afzal Nagar Community Hall, close to the Musi River on May 17. Subsequently, the Malakpet police registered a case and deployed eight teams to investigate the incident.
Through meticulous examination of CCTV footage and employing advanced technological tools, the police successfully identified the accused, who subsequently confessed to the heinous crime. The authorities recovered the victim’s dismembered body parts from Mohan’s residence and sent them for autopsy.
This shocking incident has sent shockwaves through Hyderabad, as citizens grapple with the gruesome nature of the crime and the depths of human depravity it reveals. The accused now awaits justice as the investigation continues.
