Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to flag off Karnataka’s second Vande Bharat Express, connecting Bengaluru and Dharwad, today. The South Western Railway (SWR) announced that the inaugural run of the express train was successfully conducted on June 19, covering the route from KSR Bengaluru station to Dharwad and back.
Following the launch of the Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai Vande Bharat Express last year, this will be the second Vande Bharat train flagged off by PM Modi in Karnataka. The inaugural special train, numbered 07305, will depart from Dharwad at 10:30 am and reach KSR Bengaluru, with only brief stops at Yeshwantpur, Davangere, and Hubballi.
The express train is expected to reduce travel time by approximately 30 minutes, completing the journey in 6 hours and 25 minutes.
With air-conditioned chair car and executive car facilities, the Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, excluding Tuesdays. It is poised to significantly benefit tourists, students, and industrialists in the region, connecting important cities such as Dharwad, Hubballi, and Davangere with the state capital, Bengaluru.
The launch of the second Vande Bharat Express was delayed due to the electrification of the downline between Bengaluru and Hubballi-Dharwad.
However, all necessary preparations have been completed, as confirmed during a meeting between Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on May 31. This new addition to the rail network is expected to enhance connectivity and streamline travel for commuters in Karnataka.
