Rajasthan to Give Folk Artists Opportunities to Perform for 100 Days Each Year

In a significant move to support and preserve the rich heritage of folk art in Rajasthan, the state government has announced a new initiative to provide folk artists with opportunities to perform for 100 days each year. Under the Mukhyamantri Lok Kalakar Protsahan Yojana, artists will be given employment and the chance to showcase their talents in their respective areas.

The state culture minister, BD Kalla, highlighted the commitment of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to the preservation of folk art. Kalla emphasized that this scheme will not only provide artists with much-needed employment, but also enable them to support their families more comfortably. Additionally, the artists will have the freedom to explore further opportunities and engagements on their own.

To streamline the process, a web portal will be launched for online registration of folk artists, allowing them to easily register and showcase their skills. Furthermore, the artists will be provided with folk incentive cards, serving as their primary identification for performance opportunities.

The Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi in Jodhpur will play a key role as the nodal agency for the implementation of this scheme.
