India Records Decline in COVID-19 Cases: 656 New Infections and 12 Deaths, Active Cases Drop to 13,037
In the latest update from the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 656 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total Covid case tally to 4.49 crore (4,49,82,131). At the same time, active cases have decreased from 14,493 to 13,037. The death toll has risen to 5,31,790, with 12 deaths reported, including three reconciled by Kerala.
The active cases now represent only 0.03 percent of the total infections, indicating a positive trend in containment efforts. The national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at an impressive 98.79 percent. So far, a remarkable 4,44,37,304 people have successfully recovered from the disease, contributing to the high recovery rate.

Additionally, the case fatality rate remains relatively low at 1.18 percent. These statistics reflect the ongoing efforts to combat the pandemic and provide effective healthcare to those in need.
It’s worth noting that India has achieved a significant milestone in its vaccination drive, administering a staggering 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine nationwide.
