In a significant development, the Supreme Court has granted interim bail to former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who has been in Tihar Jail on money laundering charges since May last year. The bail, given for a period of six weeks, is based on medical grounds as Jain was hospitalized and put on oxygen support after collapsing in the jail washroom.
However, the court has imposed restrictions on Jain, including not influencing witnesses, tampering with evidence, or leaving Delhi during the bail period. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for July 10, where Jain’s updated medical reports will be presented.

Jain’s health deteriorated recently, leading to his hospitalization twice within a week. Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued on humanitarian grounds, highlighting Jain’s significant weight loss and the need for surgery on his vertebrae.
On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate, represented by Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, expressed doubts about the credibility of medical reports from the hospitals Jain was admitted to. Raju requested an independent examination of Jain’s health condition by Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
