Former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain Admitted To Hospital After Falling In Jail Bathroom

Satyendar Jain, the former Health Minister of Delhi, was hospitalized on Thursday after collapsing in the bathroom of Tihar Jail, where he has been detained since last year on money laundering charges. This incident marks the second time within a week that Mr. Jain required medical attention, as he had previously sustained a spinal injury from a fall in the jail’s bathroom, according to jail officials.

Mr. Jain’s appearance at the hospital, with a belt strapped around his waist, raised concerns about his health. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has stated that the former minister, who has lost nearly 35 kg since his arrest, is suffering from sleep apnea and requires a BiPAP machine for sleeping.

Prior to this incident, Mr. Jain was taken to the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital where he underwent various tests, including a CT scan and an MRI. Although his condition was reported as stable, he remained under observation.

Concerns about Mr. Jain’s health have been expressed by his party colleagues and supporters, who have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to harm him. In response, the BJP has commented on Mr. Jain’s weight loss, attributing it to his religious beliefs of eating only one meal a day.

Satyendar Jain, a prominent member of the AAP and a former minister holding multiple portfolios, including health, home, and urban development, resigned from his ministerial posts in January of this year while still in jail. The Enforcement Directorate, a federal agency investigating financial crimes, arrested Mr. Jain in May of the previous year on allegations of money laundering through shell companies and illegal land transactions. Mr. Jain has consistently denied these charges, labeling them as politically motivated.

The current incident has sparked further attention to Mr. Jain’s health and his ongoing legal situation. Updates on his condition and the developments in his case will continue to be monitored closely.
