This responsibility was earlier given to UPSC. It was said that UPSC will conduct IRMS exam separately but now that decision has also been changed. Ministry of Railways has now said that UPSC will not conduct IRMS 2023 exam separately. That is, recruitment in IRMS will be done only through UPSC Civil Services Examination.
UPSC exam will have to be given to get IRMS job-
According to the new notification issued by the Ministry of Railways, now the recruitment of IRMS in Railways will be done through UPSC Civil Services Examination. If you want to get IRMS job then you have to give civil service exam of UPSC. Its notification and form has been issued.
How to apply for UPSC IRMS?
If you want to give IRMS exam then you have to apply for UPSC Civil Services exam. Union Public Service Commission has released the notification of UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023. Acceptance of applications has started. For this, you will first have to register by visiting upsc.gov.in.
The application process has started from 1st February. The last date to apply is 21 February 2023. The preliminary exam will be held on 28 May 2023.
Many questions raised on the Ministry of Railways-
Earlier Indian Railway Ministry had said that UPSC will conduct separate IRMS exam from 2023, so why changed the decision at the last moment? Why was the exam not conducted separately? Rather it was added to the civil service itself? The ministry has not given any answer to these questions. However, sources in the Railway Ministry say that the decision has been taken under pressure from officers who do not come from an engineering background.
