The post of Prime Minister is included in the major posts of the country. In such a situation, there are all kinds of risks on them. About Rs 1.18 crore is spent every day on issues related to his security. If we look at the budget 2023-24 released by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, then the budget for the security of special people has also increased. This is reflected in the budget released for VIP security.
Looking at the financial year 2023-24, among the agencies related to VIP security, the maximum budget has been increased for the SPG related to the security of the Prime Minister. After this comes the number of CRPF, which provides Z plus and Z category security to many important people. About fifty jawans in Z plus security and about forty jawans in Z security are always deployed in the security of a VIP.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has got Z plus category security. The government is spending around Rs 1.5 lakh per day on his security, which is around Rs 50 lakh per month. However, Rahul Gandhi is not the only leader on whom so much is being spent. CRPF provides security to a total of 129 people in various categories. The force provides maximum protection to the important people with the Z (z) and Z plus (z plus) series.
According to Union Home Ministry data, the CRPF currently provides Z-plus category security to 21 people and Z-category security to 26 people. A senior officer told that ‘CRPF currently has 6 battalions associated with VIP security. Means about 6000 jawans and all their expenditure comes from the category of VIP security.
The Finance Ministry has passed a budget of Rs 31,772 crore for CRPF in the same session this year. Out of this, if officials are to be believed, more than Rs 774 crore has been given for VIP security. According to the Union Home Ministry, CISF has the highest number of Z category security personnel after CRPF.
According to the ministry’s data, CISF currently provides security to 144 people, of whom 9 are in Z+ and 11 are in Z category. After this, ITBP (ITBP), SSB (ssb) and NSG (N.S.G) provide Z plus and Z category security to about 70 people. The official further said that the amount spent on security is ‘on an average Rs 50 lakh for Z+ and around Rs 40 lakh for Z’ per month.
Rs 433 crore has been approved for SPG in this year’s budget. Last year the budget of SPG was 411 crores. It is also necessary to mention here that SPG now only provides security to the Prime Minister, which means the government spends Rs 36 crore every month to provide security to the Prime Minister. This is done because he is on the main post of the country. That’s why there are all kinds of risks on them. In such a situation, 1.18 crore rupees are spent every day on the arrangements related to their security.
