As train services are restored on the down-line track at the accident site, videos show Vaishnaw offering prayers. The restoration work was completed within 51 hours since the mishap occurred.
The incident itself has been attributed to a technical glitch in the signalling system, specifically the electronic interlocking system.
This system, responsible for managing train movement and preventing collisions, malfunctioned, leading to the tragic collision between the Bengaluru-Howrah Yashwantpur Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train.
In response to the accident, opposition parties have raised concerns about safety measures like the “Kavach” anti-collision system. However, the railway minister denies any connection between the accident and the Kavach device, refuting allegations made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Furthermore, the Railways ministry has requested a CBI probe into the incident, considering the gravity of the situation and the available information.
