Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at Hyderabad House in Delhi on Thursday. During this, bilateral talks were also held between the two leaders, in which mutual cooperation and strong relations between the countries were discussed.
On this occasion, PM Modi said that this year India and Italy are celebrating the completion of 75 years of their bilateral relations. We have decided to elevate our alliance to the level of strategic partnership, and we are also on the way to strengthen our economic partnership.

He further said that on the first visit of Prime Minister Georgia Meloni to India, I heartily welcome him and his delegation to India. In the previous year’s election, the citizens of Italy elected Giorgia Meloni as the first woman and the youngest Prime Minister. On this historic achievement, I congratulate him and convey my best wishes to all Indians.
PM Modi said, we emphasized on further strengthening our economic relations. Our ‘Make in India’ and ‘Self-reliant India campaign’ are opening immense opportunities for investment in India. We laid special emphasis on increasing cooperation in areas like Renewable Energy, Green Hydrogen, IT, semiconductors, telecom, space. The establishment of a Startup Bridge between India and Italy is being announced today, which we welcome.
Referring to several challenges, he said that India and Italy are walking shoulder to shoulder in the fight against terrorism and separatism. We discussed in detail how to further strengthen this cooperation. ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ are opening new avenues of investment in our country. Our special focus is on the areas of renewable energy, green hydrogen, IT, telecom, space.
PM Modi said that to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the relations between India and Italy, we have decided to make an action plan. With this, we will be able to showcase the diversity, history, science and technology, innovation, sports and achievements of both the countries on the global stage. From the very beginning of the Ukraine conflict, India has made it clear that this dispute can be resolved only through dialogue and diplomacy. India is fully prepared to contribute to any peace process.
He further said that today we are announcing the establishment of ‘Startup Bridge’ between India and Italy. Defense is another important area of our mutual cooperation. We have also decided to hold regular joint military exercises and training courses. We have people-to-people contact between India and Italy. We look forward to deepening and strengthening it further. We are talking about mobility and migration between the two countries.
