In a significant development, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah has been chosen as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka, while DK Shivakumar will serve as his deputy. The decision comes after the Congress party reached a consensus on a rotational formula for the leadership roles.
Siddaramaiah will hold the CM position for a period of 2.5 years, after which Shivakumar will take over. The official oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023.
