Madhya Pradesh : VAT will not be charged on heritage liquor for one year

Heritage liquor will be available in retail license shops as well as in hotel bars

Bhopal : The state government has given one year exemption in VAT on heritage liquor made from Mahua. It is worth mentioning that Hanuman Aajeevika Self-Help Group in village Kochha of Katthiwada block of Alirajpur district and Maa Narmada Aajeevika Self-Help Group in Bhakhamal village of Amarpur block of Dindori district are producing heritage wine made from Mahua by setting up a plant.

This heritage liquor will be available in retail license shops as well as hotel bars. Since 10% VAT is levied on liquor sold from licensed retail shops and 18% on liquor sold in hotel bars, therefore, to encourage heritage liquor, it has been exempted from payment of VAT for one year. Heritage liquor will be exempted from payment of VAT for one year from the date it is certified by the State Excise Commissioner.
