A fire broke out on the sets of ‘Gum Hai Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein’ at Goregaon Film City around 4.30 pm on Friday. The fire spread to three other studios where the shooting was going on. After a lot of effort, the fire could be extinguished at 10.17 pm.
“One studio set is big, the other three are small. No one was hurt in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation,” said Harish Girkar, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Mumbai Fire Brigade.
The fire brigade initially declared it a Level-II fire, but later the fire spread to other sets where shooting of other serials was going on, later declaring it as Level-III. According to officials, the fire destroyed electrical wires, structures, bamboo, tarpaulin sheets, wooden items in the four studio sets and also burnt dry trees, grass, leaves and bushes in an area of over 50,000 metres.
All India Cine Workers Association president Suresh Gupta said, “Over 1,000 people, including artistes and workers, were present on the set when the fire broke out. Most of these production houses and channels do not follow fire safety rules during shooting.” Gupta demanded a high-level probe into the incident and sought action against the producer, production house and channel, among others.
