The tenure of five Rajya Sabha members of MP is ending on 2 April 2024 next year. At present, four of these seats are with the BJP and one seat with the Congress. The results of the assembly general elections to be held later this year will decide which party will get how many seats in the above five seats in the elections to be held next year.

Ajay Pratap Singh, Kailash Soni, Dharmendra Pradhan and Dr. L Murugan from BJP and Rajmani Patel from Congress are going to complete their term in Rajya Sabha next year.

Among these, Dr. Murugan became a Rajya Sabha member on 27 September 2021 due to the resignation of Thawarchandra Gehlot, while the rest on 15 March 2018. The term of being a member of the Rajya Sabha is six years, but Dr. Murugan will be able to remain a member only for four years.

If the election results of these five Rajya Sabha members are estimated from the present seats of BJP and Congress, then three will go to the account of BJP and two of Congress. The performance of both the major parties will depend on the number of seats they get in the next assembly general elections and on the basis of these seats, the future of many leaders of these two parties who have been waiting for years to go to the Rajya Sabha will be decided. Interestingly, the general elections to the Lok Sabha are also due in May next year.
