Mata Mahagauri on the eighth day of Chaitra Navratri. Because of her exceptionally light skin, devotees refer her to Mahagauri. She had allegedly achieved Strong qualities through her stringent penance. Since then, devotees refer to her as Mata Mahagauri, who abducts physical, mental, and material heat and Ujjwala Swaroopa Mahagauri, Dhan Aishwarya Pradayini, and Chaitanyamayi Trilokya Pujya Mangala.
People also believe that Lord Shiva commanded the goddess to bathe in the Ganges after he was happy with her penance. Mata Ganga performed it, at which point Kaushiki, another manifestation of the Shyam Varna, emerged from her body. Another incarnation- Mata Mahagauri, emerged that resembled the brilliant moon. One can overcome all their troubles and sorrows if one honors the goddess. People unable to keep fast for all nine days of Navratri must sustain a fast on Pratipada and Ashtami Tithi. The person achieves the same outcome by doing this as by fasting for nine days.
