ASI’s Superintendent Archaeologist, Manoj Kumar Saxena, stated that efforts will be made to determine the cause of the tilt and assess the damage. Immediate repair work will be undertaken if possible, and the temple’s premises will be thoroughly inspected. ASI officials are also investigating the possibility of sliding or sinking in the lower part of the temple, which may contribute to the tilt.

Tungnath temple, built in the eighth century by the Katyuri rulers, holds great significance as the world’s highest Shiva temple. The temple’s administration, overseen by the Badri Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC), has been informed about the tilt. BKTC Chairman Ajendra Ajay expressed the committee’s willingness to assist in restoring the temple but emphasized their opposition to complete control being handed over.
