In a significant development, Twitter has announced that users will soon need to be verified in order to use TweetDeck, the popular social media management tool. The company plans to implement this change within the next 30 days.
The announcement comes amidst various issues faced by TweetDeck users, including problems with notifications and columns failing to load. This news follows Twitter CEO Elon Musk’s recent decision to limit the number of tweets users can read in a day, which sparked controversy and backlash.
TweetDeck’s New Version Launched
Alongside the verification requirement announcement, Twitter also introduced an enhanced version of TweetDeck with new features. However, it remains unclear whether Twitter will charge users for both the new and old versions of TweetDeck.

This development could potentially generate revenue for Twitter, which has faced challenges in retaining advertising revenue under Musk’s ownership. TweetDeck, widely used by businesses and news organizations for content monitoring, holds significant importance within the Twitter ecosystem.
Users Advised to Import Content within 30 Days
According to Twitter’s tweet, the new TweetDeck version retains users’ saved searches, lists, and columns. Users will be prompted to import their columns when they first access the application.
Notably, full composer functionality, Spaces, video docking, polls, and more are now supported on TweetDeck. However, the teams functionality in TweetDeck is temporarily unavailable and will be restored in the coming weeks.
The 30-day deadline for user verification to access TweetDeck emphasizes the platform’s increasing focus on user verification and security measures.
