Now experts have also spoken about the danger of superbugs. They have said that the superbug can cause health problems and even kill many people. But first let us know what a superbug is. Superbugs are parasites. Due to which even a simple infection can kill you.
In fact, animals are given injections of antibiotics to gain weight and grow faster. That’s why this medicine reaches our body without knowing it. Due to which the danger increases.
The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, a non-profit organization based in London, in collaboration with some southern newspapers found that animals in India are being given antibiotics, which are also banned in the West.
According to a report in Saam TV, Tylosin is a drug which is given as a growth promoter. In 1998, its use in chickens and goats was completely banned by the European Union because the drug reduces the effects of erythromycin. Erythromycin is an antibiotic, prescribed for many diseases caused by chest infections.
In 2006, the European Union banned all antibiotics in the name of animal welfare. Although there is no legal restriction on this in most countries including India. In America also there is no strict rule in this regard.
In 2019, the World Organization for Animal Health conducted a survey on the use of antibiotics in chickens, which found that 45 out of 155 countries were indiscriminately giving antibiotics to chickens. No country was named in this, rather all Asian countries were involved in this practice, meaning India was also told as one. The organization warned to stop it as soon as possible, talking about antibiotic resistance.
Antibiotic resistance means drug ineffectiveness. This happens when bacteria or viruses or parasites of any kind mutate and over time the drugs become ineffective against them. Not only serious but even minor infections can be dangerous as no antibiotics will have any effect.
In 2019, over 12 million deaths worldwide were attributed to antibiotic resistance. The patients had died of bacterial infections but antibiotics had stopped working on them.
