Heatwave Alert: IMD Issues Warning for Delhi-NCR as Temperature Rises to 46 Degrees Celsius

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe heatwave warning for parts of Delhi-NCR as the mercury touched a scorching 46 degrees Celsius in some areas on Sunday. The sweltering conditions have prompted concerns about the well-being of residents, and the IMD has cautioned that the heatwave may persist until Monday.

According to IMD, the maximum temperatures in Northwest India are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next three days before gradually declining by 3-5 degrees Celsius thereafter. However, no significant changes in maximum temperature are anticipated for the rest of the country in the next five days.

The IMD also noted that relief from the heatwave is likely for parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Meanwhile, regions including the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands are expected to experience rainfall in the coming three days. This precipitation is also anticipated in states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Scattered rainfall accompanied by lightning is forecasted in the Himalayan Region and Uttarakhand. Furthermore, heavy rainfall is predicted in isolated areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

In the southern regions of the country, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe, scattered rainfall is expected over the next five days.
