This comment comes shortly after the power regulator in Delhi approved an increase in power tariffs for distribution companies in the national capital.
The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission allowed BSES Yamuna Power Limited, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, and New Delhi Municipal Council to charge higher rates. It should be noted that electricity rates in Delhi have remained unchanged since 2014.
While the recent tariff hike is not expected to affect consumers who receive free electricity up to 200 units, other consumers may face an additional surcharge of about 8 percent. Atishi, a Delhi minister, attributed the power tariff increase to the central government.
