Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is all set for the grand opening of a historic Shooting World Cup, the first ever event in India to be held outside New Delhi. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony to be held at Kushabhau Thackeray International Convention Centre .

Luciano Rossi, President of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) will be the guest of honour. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia and President, National Rifle Association of India Raninder Singh will also be present. The Chief Minister will also virtually inaugurate the new final hall of Madhya Pradesh. The inauguration ceremony will be accompanied by a performance of Mallakhamb along with the swearing-in ceremony.

About 198 shooters from 30 countries are participating in Bhopal , 37 shooters are Indian who will take part. Prominent names taking part will include defending Olympic champion Jean Quiquecampoix in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol, Rio Olympic champion Christian Ritz of Germany in the event and women’s air rifle world champion Allison Marie Weiss of the USA, among others. India’s reigning world champion in the men’s 10m air rifle, Rudraksh Patil, will also be seen in action, as will the two reigning air pistol world champions, Liu Jinyao and Lu Kaiman of China.
