In Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, a man was caught on camera urinating on a tribal labourer; the victim has since filed a police affidavit denying the incident ever happened. Additionally, he stated that any legal action taken by the police against the user of the “fake” video on social media will be valid.

The video was shot a year ago but received a lot of social media attention last week. The villager who posted the video on social media in the beginning asserts that he is currently getting threats.

Tuesday saw the filing of a case at the Bahri police station. According to police, Pravesh Shukla, the man who can be seen urinating in the video, has been charged with violating the IPC and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, said that the accused must be charged under the National Security Act in response to outrage on social media.
