Elon Musk Announces Resignation as Twitter CEO, Considers Linda Yaccarino as Successor

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has revealed his intention to step down as CEO of Twitter in approximately six weeks. Musk, who had promised to resign once he found a suitable replacement, is reportedly in discussions with Linda Yaccarino, an executive from NBCUniversal, to take over as the new CEO.

Sources familiar with the matter have disclosed ongoing confidential discussions between Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino regarding her potential appointment as Twitter’s CEO. Yaccarino, who oversees global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal, recently interviewed Musk at an advertising event in Miami.

Musk tweeted that the new CEO would assume the role in about six weeks, while he would continue as “CTO,” overseeing the company’s product and software development.

Musk’s Resignation Anticipated After Twitter Poll

Following a Twitter poll initiated by Musk, where the majority voted in favor of his resignation, it was expected that he would step down from his position as Twitter’s leader. The announcement comes after significant changes implemented by Musk since Twitter’s acquisition in October, including downsizing the workforce by 75%.

Musk’s tenure at Twitter saw efforts to reduce expenses and increase revenue through a revamped subscription model. Users can now pay a monthly fee of $8 to access the platform’s verification blue checkmark. Twitter also recently re-verified certain legacy accounts, indicating a shift in its subscription policy.
