Bhubaneswar Assault: Man Arrested for Assaulting Woman, Mahila Police Takes Action

In a recent incident in Bhubaneswar, a man identified as Birendra Nayak has been arrested by the Mahila Police for allegedly assaulting a woman. The accused had reportedly taken Rs 50,000 from the woman promising to assist her in obtaining a legal heir certificate. However, when she didn’t receive any support, she requested a refund. In response, Nayak allegedly misbehaved with her, prompting the woman to file a complaint with the Mahila Police Station.

Acting on the FIR, the police apprehended Nayak from Kedarapalli Slum. The authorities have registered a case against him under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 294 (obscene acts or words in public), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt).

It is worth noting that Birendra Nayak had previously contested the 2019 elections from the Bhubaneswar Central (Madhya) assembly segment as a candidate of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

The investigation into the matter is currently underway as the police gather further evidence and statements.
