Selfie movie reviews : Akshay Kumar’s ‘Selfie’ fizzled on the first day itself, fifth consecutive flop
Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Selfie’ released with much fanfare, but the audience rejected it on the very first day. ‘Selfie’ has increased the difficulties of Akshay Kumar even more. The film, which released on Friday, has taken a very poor start at the box office.
The circumstances are such that the film can prove to be the biggest flop of Akshay’s career. The situation is such that the audience has been seen missing from the morning and afternoon shows in the theatres. Due to this, this remake of Malayalam film ‘Driving License’ is on the verge of becoming the worst opening of Akshay’s career.
‘Selfie’ is a wake-up call for Akshay who has given four consecutive flops. It’s time for alarm and wake up career wise, now Akshay will have to be very careful in choosing films.
Selfie, directed by Raj Mehta, has opened to mixed reviews from the critics as well as the audience. The story of a superstar fighting his superfan failed to impress the audience on day one and indications don’t suggest that it will do well in the coming weekend.
The fan following of Akshay Kumar is the only reason due to which so many viewers have reached the cinema hall. But even his fans left the theater looking dejected.
Ever since the release of ‘Suryavanshi’ in the year 2021, Akshay has been craving for a big hit. His ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and ‘Ramsetu’ have all bombed at the box office and now ‘Selfie’ is going to join the list.
Apart from Akshay and Imran, the film also stars Nushrat Bharucha and Diana Penty. Made in a budget of around Rs 150 crore, the film has been released across 2000 screens in the country. Akshay Kumar’s previous theatrical release ‘Ram Setu’ collected Rs 14.81 crore on its first day.
