Even today the fans miss the work of these artists a lot. But now the way for these artists to work back in India may be clear. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has spoken on the ban imposed on Pakistani artistes.

SCO is a multinational film festival where people from all over the world including Pakistan were invited. However, the neighboring country refrained from participating.

Talking about Pakistan’s participation, Anurag said that whenever there is a multinational tournament, they have included all the countries that are part of the world. Similarly, on his part he had sent invitations to all the members of SCO and opened the doors for all but ultimately it is his decision to defer or attend.

Furthermore, he was asked whether the ban on Pakistani artistes would be lifted as the government has invited Pakistan to the film festival. To this, the Information and Broadcasting Minister decided not to comment on the ban on the work of Pakistani artistes.

He said that the government has invited the country to the film festival but does not want to cooperate with them. However, nothing has been confirmed on this yet, and there is no information on how long this ban will continue. Pakistani artistes were banned from working in India after the horrific Uri attack in 2016. In view of the tension between the two countries, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had demanded this ban, which was later implemented.
