PM Modi said in India Energy Week – India is the safest for investment in energy sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the inauguration of “India Energy Week” in Bengaluru, Karnataka today, on 6 February 2023, that at this time we all are focused on the devastating earthquake in Turkey. There are reports of tragic deaths and heavy losses of many people. The sympathies of 140 crore people of India are with the earthquake victims. We are ready to provide all possible help to the earthquake victims.

PM Modi further said that Bengaluru is a city full of energy of technology, talent and innovation. Like me, you too must be feeling the youth energy here. This is the first major energy event of India’s G-20 Presidency calendar. Bangalore is a city full of technology, talent and innovation. Like me all of you must be feeling the energy imbibed by the youth here. Today is the first energy event after our G20 presidency. I heartily welcome all the national and international delegates.

PM Modi said, India has been a global bright spot in 2022 despite the impact of pandemic and war. Whatever may be the external circumstances, India has overcome every challenge due to internal resilience. Multiple factors worked behind this. First- Stable government, Second- Sustained reforms, Third- Socio-Economic Empowerment at Grassroots.

PM Modi told that India has unique opportunities in the field of development of energy sector. India stands firmly with respect to the processes of development of energy resources and energy transition, it will indeed create a great future for the nation in the 21st century. Today there has been a change in the standard of living of crores of people in India. Today crores of people are coming out of poverty and reaching the level of middle class. The recent growth projection by the IMF shows
that India will continue to be the fastest growing major economy in the world. Neither pandemic nor war could stop India from becoming a ‘Global Bright Spot’.
PM Modi further said that there are 4 major verticals of India’s strategy regarding the energy sector. In which the first – Increasing Domestic Exploration and Production, Second – Diversification of Supplies, Third – Expansion of Alternative Energy Sources like Biofuels, Ethanol, Compressed Bio Gas and Solar, Fourth – Decarbonization through Electric Vehicle and Hydrogen.

He told that we are working on mission mode to increase our Energy Mix Natural Gas Consumption by the year 2030. Apart from this, another sector in which India is leading in the world is Green Hydrogen..! National Green hydrogen mission will give a new direction to 21st century India.

PM Modi said, today there is a change in the lives of the people. From their social and economic empowerment to their digital upgradation and empowerment needs have also been fulfilled. To provide internet facility in the villages, optical fiber network of more than 6 lakh kilometers has been laid. The number of broadband users in India has grown 9 times what it was 9 years ago, and the number of internet connections has tripled in the same period. Since the year 2014, the whole world is watching India’s commitment and efforts regarding Green Energy.

He further said that in the last 9 years, the renewable energy capacity in India has increased from about 70 GW to about 170 GW. In this too, the solar power capacity has increased more than 20 times. Today India is at number four in the world in terms of wind power capacity. We are aiming to have 50 percent non-fossil fuel capacity by the end of this decade.

PM Modi pointed out that India will see an increasing number of new cities in the coming times; According to the findings of the International Energy Association, India will have the maximum energy demand in the coming decade. Today India has brought great opportunities for investors and other stakeholders in the energy sector. In 2014, the length of the gas pipeline in India was around 14,000 km; Now it has more than 22,000 kms. This network will cross the length of 35,000 km in the next 4-5 years.

He said that the mantra of ‘Reduce, Re-use and Recycle’ has been in our traditions. The recent example of recycling plastic bottles into uniform fabric is excellent. If we aim to recycle 10 crore such bottles in a year, it will really play an important role in environmental protection. This will also strengthen ‘Mission Life’.
