Protesting Wrestlers Ask for Early Chargesheet, Meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah
In a significant development, a group of wrestlers, who have been demanding action against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, held a late-night meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence.
The wrestlers pressed for an early chargesheet against Brij Bhushan, who is also a BJP MP, during the meeting that lasted till midnight. These wrestlers were previously protesting at Jantar Mantar, highlighting the alleged sexual misconduct by Brij Bhushan.
Notably, top wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat had temporarily suspended their protest and resumed their railway duties after being evicted from the protest site.
While the wrestlers confirmed their meeting with Amit Shah, they did not disclose specific details of the discussion. This marks the first high-level intervention into the ongoing issue by the Union Home Minister.

Prior to this, the wrestlers had a conversation with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, who assured them of a fair probe into their allegations.
The wrestlers’ meeting with Amit Shah comes shortly after their visit to Haridwar, where they intended to immerse their medals in the Ganga. However, their plans were thwarted by farmers’ leader Rakesh Tikait, who has set a deadline of June 9 for the government to arrest Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
