Bhopal : The central government will give a grant of Rs 150 crore for scrapping government vehicles which are 15 or more years old running in state government departments-offices, bodies, undertakings, three-tier panchayats. Faiz Ahmed Kadwai, Principal Secretary, Transport Department of the state has said this in a circular issued to all department heads and has asked them to get their 15 years old, 15 to 20 years old and more than 20 years old on-road and off-road vehicles ready. The Principal Secretary has said in the circular that if the state government issues an order to scrap vehicles older than 15 years, Rs 75 crore will be released to it immediately in the first phase, while the remaining Rs 75 crore will be released within the time limit for scrapping vehicles. Will be given The Principal Secretary has also told in the circular that according to the current rules of the Center, government vehicles which have completed 15 years of age will not be renewed and it is mandatory to scrap such vehicles.
