President Biden to Host PM Narendra Modi for Official State Visit to US on June 22: White House

The White House has officially announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a state visit to Washington DC next month. This visit, planned for months, will mark Mr. Modi’s first state visit during the Biden administration. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host Prime Minister Modi for an Official State Visit on June 22, 2023, which will include a state dinner. The visit aims to reaffirm the strong partnership between the United States and India.

The bilateral relationship between the two countries holds growing importance, as emphasized by the Indian government. The leaders will review and strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas, including technology, trade, industry, education, research, clean energy, defense, security, healthcare, and people-to-people connections. The visit will also highlight the shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific, with a focus on elevating the strategic technology partnership.

During the state visit, Prime Minister Modi and President Biden will discuss their shared vision for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific. The discussions are expected to cover topics such as educational exchanges, climate change, workforce development, and health security.

This historic visit presents a valuable opportunity for India and the United States to further deepen their comprehensive and forward-looking global strategic partnership. Additionally, the Hindu reported that Prime Minister Modi and President Biden are likely to interact multiple times in May, including at the G7 meetings in Hiroshima, during overlapping visits to Papua New Guinea, and at the Quad Summit in Sydney. These engagements will further strengthen the ties between the two nations.
