Heatwave Grips Over 30 Districts in Madhya Pradesh, Relief Expected After May 24: IMD Forecast

The scorching heatwave in Madhya Pradesh has intensified, with temperatures soaring in more than 30 districts. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a significant increase of 5-7% in temperatures, while nighttime temperatures may rise by 2-3%. Authorities are urging people to remain cautious as the situation may resemble a heatwave, and temperatures could reach a sweltering 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

The district of Ratlam has been declared the hottest in the state, with a record-breaking temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius. The IMD anticipates further temperature spikes across several districts, with more than 40 districts already experiencing temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic disturbance is forming in the Bay of Bengal, but its impact is unlikely to affect any state other than West Bengal. The weather forecast until May 12 indicates similar conditions, with the possibility of clouds and slight drizzles in some parts of Madhya Pradesh on May 13 and 14.

Heat Alert in these Districts

Furthermore, a heatwave is predicted after May 15, affecting regions such as Bhind, Muraina, Nauganwa, Khajuraho, Panna, and Chhatarpur. The IMD suggests significant temperature fluctuations until June 10, with the possibility of intense heatwave conditions. Sagar, Khajuraho, and Khargone could witness temperatures soaring up to 45 degrees Celsius during the day. Although a Western Disturbance is active, its impact in Madhya Pradesh will likely be minimal.
