Prime Minister Modi Begins Three-Nation Visit Today, Packed With Over 40 Engagements

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a six-day visit to Japan, Papua New Guinea, and Australia, during which he will participate in three significant multilateral summits, including the Group of Seven (G7) and the Quad, as reported by news agency PTI.

Officials have revealed that PM Modi’s tour will be a busy one, with a packed schedule of over 40 engagements. Apart from attending the summits, he will also engage in bilateral meetings with more than two dozen world leaders.

The Quad summit, to be held in Hiroshima, Japan, is expected to yield several outcomes, as Prime Minister Modi, US President Joe Biden, and their counterparts from Japan and Australia come together. During the G7 summit, Modi will address global challenges, including food, fertilizer, and energy security.

Following his visit to Japan, PM Modi will travel to Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea to co-host the third summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) with Prime Minister James Marape.

The final leg of the trip will take Prime Minister Modi to Australia, where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and address a diaspora event.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra highlighted the significance of India’s participation in the G7 summits, emphasizing the country’s increasing recognition in global efforts to address peace, security, and development challenges. The G7 summit’s agenda covers topics such as nuclear disarmament, economic resilience, climate change, and health.

During the visit, PM Modi will also conduct bilateral meetings with several leaders on the sidelines of the G7 summit and inaugurate a bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Hiroshima.

Overall, Prime Minister Modi’s three-nation visit promises a busy itinerary with over 40 engagements, including participation in multilateral summits and bilateral meetings with world leaders, as he tackles global challenges and strengthens India’s international partnerships.
